drifting off...

Really need to get to bed early tonight but I can foresee by the time I've done the work I need to do I'll want to watch TV and it'll be midnight before I hit the hay. Can't complain though, course is still ace (even if I am about to hit a series of 4 exams :O) managed to get another run in today and got a comedy revue coming up for which I've* written a few sketches and have been asked to compere.

*Carla wrote one too, nursery rhymes A & E.....

Deep burn

Managed to stamp out another 20km today, feeling it in the legs though. Despite being pretty slow and not having run too much knocked 20 min off last weeks run?! All good and as long as mates are training for marathons then I should have enough running partners to keep me motivated. Just need to get out on that lovely carbon bike...

Pocoyo Mofo

Bloody facebook, couldn't get my pic to upload. I'll try again tomorrow but here's a preview for all the devoted blog readers. My resolutions (not including blog updates) are going well, the fruit a day is getting into its stride and only a couple times have I found myself scouring the kitchen for an apple at midnight. Runs are ok too, half marathon last week and another pencilled in for tomorrow. That's about it. Not managed to get out on the bike yet but hopefully in a couple of weeks after the next round of exams. *sigh*

roll on 2010

We're only hours away from 2010 now but rather than becoming increasingly lubricated by booze with friends I'm recovering from a stomach bug. Andy and Kirsty have both been ill and Mum and Stuart are still ill so it could have been much worse I should be thankful that it only lasted a day or so but even so it seems a pants way to end the year. Quite a year too. There were undoubtedly ups, getting into med school at the 11th hour and becoming course president were pretty awesome, but the year seemed punctuated by familial health concerns and more recently a loans company screw up which means I'm 2 grand worse off than I was a month ago. Anyway 2009 is on its way out and that means, in theory at least, a fresh start awaits. And for the first time I can remember I am making some New Year's resolutions:

More blogging A quick scan shows I've only managed to get the half the posts up this year that I did in 2008, hopefully I can change that in 2010

At least 2 runs or rides every week Ok not the most ambitious training plan particularly given some blogs I read aim for 5000km cycling in a year but given that my achilles heel is consistency and time is limited i'm aiming low and playing the long game.

Go to the cinema every month
Another thing I'm good at chatting about but not actually doing

I'm sure there was at least one more, ah well!

Ready to roll

Single speed superfly finally built up

Single Speed Euro Champs

Managed to wangle an entry to the euros! So did Alec, I think we;re determined to get at least 2 laps-the last time we raced together neither of us could stomach a second lap (copious beer and cider the night before plus bike jousting had left its mark)

This year though, this year we're definitely gonna try not to get lapped and/or make 2 laps. Probably.

And the fly might be making its way back out the door :'( Student finance have decided after giving me a grand so far (and funding other people on the course) that my course is in fact NOT eligible for funding. Weird that seeing as I know at least half a dozen people who ARE on this course and funded. Time to pull presidential strings and ask my new best friend at the student union about a hardship fund. :(

Christmas comes early

Finally got my single speed superfly frame and forks today :D Although it will be another week before I get it built up and ridden, it looks awesome and I can't wait to through a leg over it. Just got my fingers crossed my funding for uni comes through next year and I don't have to sell it :(
